Emily came home from school and asked me if I talked to her teacher. She was being awfully quiet for my enthusiastic Emily Jean...
Turns out that Emily was bullied at school. She was playing on the playground around two other little girls, one on the monkey bars (the other not?). According to Emily, one said to the other, "Kick Emily in the face."
And she did. More than once.
Now, I'm NOT happy that my little girl was hurt like that BUT I am one proud mama right now. When I went to the school this morning, the counselor pulled me aside to tell me how well my daughter stood up for herself.
The other girls lied about what happened, not a huge surprise. So, Emily said, "My mommy taught me not to lie and to be brave. They are not telling the truth."
One of the biggest lessons I have tried to instill in my little ones so far is to be courageous and stand up for themselves. I guess I am doing something right :)
*I'm not going to sit here and bash 6 and 7 year olds. Things happen and we learn. The school has dealt with the situation and the girls are all being watched over to make sure this doesn't become an ongoing issue.
